August 2015 - Anne Feeney's Fellow Travelers' Advisory - Volume 10, Number Three

This is Volume 10, #3 of the Fellow Travelers' Advisory.  It's my once-a-month missive to all my friends, family, fans, folkies and fellow travelers. Thanks for reading... I don't know what I'd do without you!!

If you don't live near any of the places where I am playing, I'll bet that if you put on your thinking cap you'll come up with someone you know in one of those places.  If you'd be nice enough to forward my newsletter to them, or just leave a memo on their facebook page - tell 'em to turn out for some good old-fashioned hellraising music - I'd be so grateful.

Dan is still on the job-hunting trail.  Dan and Monique are on the house-hunting trail as well. Dan and Monique could have easily taken their wonderful family almost anywhere in the world --- I can't tell you how grateful I am to have them here in Pittsburgh!!

IRELAND - MAY 1ST THROUGH TO MAY 10TH - DUBLIN, CORK AND CLARE!!

I've got lots more details with more excitement still in the planning stage. On the morning of April 30th, you'll arrive at Shannon Airport on the beautiful West Coast of County Clare. You'll be met by Peter from Ace of Cabs. who will take you to your bed and breakfast in charming Bunratty.  After a brief nap, you can explore the village, perhaps do some shopping, have a pint at Durty Nelly's - a real landmark. You might consider the medieval banquet at Bunratty Castle for dinner.  It's a little pricey, and some would say "touristy" -but hey, we're tourists, n'es?t ce pas

THE TOUR HASN'T STARTED YET!!

We strongly recommend that you book your travel so that you arrive before 11 AM on April 30th  at Shannon Airport.  We also recommend a good night's sleep on Irish soil before the tour starts.  You are certainly free to make different arrangements, but this is what we recommend.

WE BEGIN

After a sumptuous breakfast at Patricia or Sheila and Frank's lovely Bed and Breakfast, Paddy Downes will arrive with his luxury coach to take us all to Dublin.  We'll drive across Ireland on Mayday.  Perhaps we'll make a couple stops along the way, and arrive in Dublin in time for our first group dinner.  The next day, historic Dublin is ours.  Our exact plans in Dublin are still in the formative stage, but our time in Dublin will include a visit to Kilmainham prison, the General Post Office, Dublin Castle, the Four Courts, St. Stephen's Green, the Shelbourne Hotel. We'll also visit the Guinness brewery and take the tour if time permits.  We'll also hear some great music every night.

Our plan is to spend 3 nights in Dublin (1-2-3), 3 nights in Cork City(4-5-6) and 3 nights in Ennistymon, County Clare (7-8-9).  After breakfast on the 10th, Paddy will deliver you to Shannon Airport, if thvat is where you're going.  If you have other plans, we'll do our best to assist you.  I'll be adding more details next month.  We want you to have time for yourselves, to get a good night's rest each night.  We typically start our day at around 10 AM, after breakfast.  You early birds will have time for a little morning exploring.  The pace of our tours is Ireland's pace.  Some folks call it the "un-tour" - We ae very flexible, casual and relaxed.

The tour includes all ground transportation, 9 nights' hotel, all breakfasts, three wonderful group dinners, ferries,  admission to all heritage sites and more.  It's a great value. This is my 7th or 8th tour and they have all been fabulous.  I can host 22 people on the tour, and I hope that you're one of them.  I know at least 100 Irish songs (some of you already know that) and I'm a great student of Irish history, jokes and beverages.

You are responsible for your transportation to Ireland, your cab to Bunratty, your first night at the Bed and Breakfast,  all your lunches, your dinners the other six nights of the tour, your beverages, tips and souvenirs.  You'll probably another $1000, depending on how much cool Irish stuff you can't resist... wonderful woolens, gorgeous jewelry, crystal and much more.

The cost of the tour is $2300, based on double occupancy.  It's a great value.  We only had  two single rooms and they are gone.  I'll be happy to pair up compatible roommates for the rest of you.  Besides there are a lot more fun things to do in Ireland  with the $500 single supplement..

Your $800 deposit will guarantee your spot.  There are two more subsequent payments of $750. (Plus the other $500 if you're in one of the two single rooms.)  We accept credit cards, if that is most convenient for you.

I am so looking forward to a relaxing and inspiring musical tour of dear Ireland.
