Ken Whiteley in Concert at My House!

Clear your calendar for Friday, April 26th.  Arrive at my house at 7:00 PM.  Grab a plate of sumptuous snacks and settle into a comfy chair.  And the magic begins promptly at 7:30
Seats are still available for this fantastic concert, to be held in my home sweet home, and featuring one of my musical heros - one of the most badass musicians and vocalists you'll ever hear.  His talent is staggering.  You'll thank me for introducing you to this amazing man.  If you saw Ken's performance for Calliope a couple years ago, you'll agree that it's hard to find enough superlatives to  accurately describe his stellar talents. Your generous contributions will make this wonderful performance possible. ... more about Ken...

Ken Whiteley is a Canadian roots music legend. He has performed at virtually every major folk festival in Canada and a couple of years ago was featured in the Calliope concert series in Pittsburgh.  Among numerous accolades, he has been awarded a Canadian Folk Music Award, Genie Award for Best Original Song in a Canadian film, Lifetime Achievement recognition from the Ontario Council of Folk Festivals and Mariposa Folk Festival. He has also been nominated for 7 Juno awards and 14 Maple Blues Awards. Ken’s live performances showcase lots of audience singing along and his outstanding musicianship on guitar (slide,  6 and 12 string) and mandolin, award winning original songs and his powerful vocals, called "...a cross between Pete Seeger and Tony Bennett !"   With an encyclopedic knowledge of blues, gospel, folk and swing as one critic said, "Good times are guaranteed!"

Come to Ireland with me!!!
September 29 - October 8th - The Best of the West

If you're just tuning in, or you haven't read the last several Fellow Travelers' Advisories, and you'd like more information about coming to Ireland with me, please reply to this message and include the names of prospective travelers, addresses, email address, and telephone number if it's okay to call you.

Traveling around Ireland with a group of 20 like-minded fun-loving comrades, a thoughtful dedicated and funny guide (me) and a great dancer, bodhran player, turfcutter and bus-driver is the only way to go.  Staying at a locally owned hotel, and pub-crawling with a designated driver - listening to the finest Irish music, seeing the best and most unusual scenery, and meeting locals with all sorts of interests - history, culture, politics and so much more... a tour like no other!

May 10th - Roy Zimmerman and Anne Feeney at Allegheny UU Church

Everyone who's found out about this show so far is jumping for joy.  I hope you'll clear your calendar to hear the signature satirist of our times - Roy Zimmerman.  He's the whole package - a very accomplished singer, guitar player, writer and humorist.  At the risk of offending John Boehner, he's easy on the eyes, too. And to top it off, he's one of the nicest people in show business.  If he doesn't have you laughing helplessly at his brilliant songs... go to an ER immediately... something must be terribly wrong with you.

Summer of Solidarity Tour

It's still in the larval stage, but keep your eyes on to see if this rowdy bunch of organizers, activists and cultural workers, mostly members of the USW, are headed your way. I intend to go with them wherever they go.  Drop me a line and I'll pass it on to the organizers if you've got a strike, lockout or organizing drive going on in your town!  The Summer of Solidarity Tour may roll into your town this August!! Still not added to my calendar are Missoula, Portland, San Francisco... and we may be working our way from LA back to Nashville to return the RV.

Almanac Singer Tour Traced - Palieri, Mann & Feeney
My pals George Mann and Rik Palieri want to reprise the tour that the Almanac singers made of the United States in the 40's.  I'll be joining them in Pittsburgh, Detroit and Chicago.  They're looking for support for the tour.  Email Rik Palieri rik@banjo(dot)net or George Mann george@georgemann(dot)org

Northern Lights Festival Boreal in July!!
I am so looking forward to this festival.  I'm on the bill with my comrade, hip-hop artist OB (aka Michael O' Brien), I hope with his band, Kill the Autocrat.  Also on the bill is Kerrville Folk Festival Diva and Sudbury native, Darlene Sovran.  I've always wanted to go to Sudbury - this is a dream come true... yay!  Check it out: http:/

Kerrville 2013
Kerrville this year will be triple special for me.  First: when I arrive on May 24th, my daughter Amy Berlin and her husband (they got married December 15th, if you're just tuning in) will be there.  My son, Daniel Berlin will be there (he's coming from Zimbabwe!) with my grandson Sebastian (almost 3 years old!).  We will have a joyous reunion and enjoy every minute of introducing Sebastian to the Quiet Valley Ranch. I can't begin to start naming all the great talents playing this year, but everyone who is playing is wonderful - check out their website for the lineup:

Second: I'll be ducking out of the festival on Saturday, June 1st to do a concert in College Station.  Check the tour schedule for all the details... but I'm so happy to be returning to Aggie country to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable.

THIRD:  Chris Chandler plays the Mainstage at Kerrville on Sunday, June 2nd!  I am so thrilled.  How wonderful!!  I changed my plane ticket so that I could be there for his show...
